Different Kinds of Readers.

  • The Devourer: Each book is a snack for this kind of reader--but it doesn't mean that s/he won't enjoy each book just as much.
  • The Lover: Books read by this kind of reader are read in hidden, stolen moments at the most unexpected times.
  • The Slow Dancer: Books are a treat that this kind of reader savors. Slow and steady wins this reader's race, as his/her eyes take in and taste each and every word.
  • The Addict: Books are a conquest to this kind of reader. S/he will buy more books than s/he can read, but s/he will ALWAYS have something to read.
  • The Classic: Books of the past are a gift to this reader. Prose in the style of early contemporary authors, or stories written long ago, are favorites for this reader.
  • The Die-Hard: Genres are a way of life for this reader. S/he finds a niche and sticks to it--veering from what s/he knows for short bursts of time.
  • The Advocate: This reader is a lover of books. S/he is not just a reader, but an advocate of reading--hoping that the future will contain more readers.
  • What kind of reader are you? Add on if you wish!

OK so eva is one of my favorite children’s authors ever! I’ve read a bunch of her books and can re-read them anytime. This one is about three sisters that live on an island and care for magical creatures. However they need some help. So they kidnap two kids. Not kidnap in the bad way. The kids had terrible parents/life situations and were in desperate need for proper adventures. The aunts provided it for them. Really awesome stuff. Perfect getaway read with a good message.

Excellent novel about the Holocaust. If you never had to read it for school, your school was stupid. Anyway, Elie and his father were in the concentration camps at Auschwitz. This short book is his recollection of what happened to them during that time. Mostly it was dehumanizing but what really made it horrific was how the victims lost faith in each other, most especially their family members. The people who are supposed to be their for you no matter what. And he felt burdened by his father. Values held dear are lost. This book will make you cry, mess with your head, change your life, and question everything. Just like every excellent book should.

Another coming of age teen novel. This kid is depressed and waaaaayyyy too stressed out and very calmly checks himself into a hospital. And then things start moving. He starts to draw. Specifically, peoples heads with maps on the insides. He meets a girl, (of course) and the interesting other patients in his wing. Like any “im in a mental ward” story it can drag a bit. But this is a pretty funny book.
